What started it all???

I was searching the internet looking for instructions for making a pair of earrings for my father's "lady friend". I used to make bead jewelry (eons ago), but none of that was really catching my fancy. Then I saw a pair of beautiful earrings made of jump rings. I could do that! I had worked with jump rings many times before and already had lots of the tools needed. From there it exploded! By "it" I mean "everything". I researched designs, bought supplies, made a few pieces, got an Etsy account and opened a shop.
But how do I motivate myself to come up with new designs? I don't want to just make the same few pieces over and over again.
Answer: I have decided to take part in a "Pair-A-Day-For-A-Month" Earring challenge. I'll make a new pair every day for all of January. Follow along with me to see if I can really do it. If I can, maybe I'll start a "Bracelet-A-Week" project next!

Day 1

Rhumba Earrings:
I decided to start out with something fairly easy. This is a straight forward weave of hooking one ring onto another and the beads just slide onto the rings.

Materials used:
2 silver ear wires
10- 6 mm jump rings (not sure of the gauge, but probably 20)
18- 8 mm jump rings (same gauge as the 6 mm rings)
18- seed beads (I chose red, just because that's what color sweater I was wearing)

Instructions:
Since I followed the instructions of someone else, instead of just making something of my own creation for these, I will share the link. www.theartofmegan.com/rhumba_earrings_tutorial
I found the tutorial through the website www.allfreebeadedjewelry.com I will probably use this website again during the month to find other patterns that I like.

Experience Level: Beginner
Approximate Time: 20 minutes

The hardest part of this project was stopping myself from making 15 more pairs in different colors! They were so easy and fast. I really want to make a pair using black nickel rings, but those are 18 gauge wire so my seed beads wouldn't fit on them. I will definitely find some beads that do fit and make at least one pair. I also wonder what the earrings would look like using colored copper rings...
Yup, a trip to the bead store is in order. When is my next day off??????
(Mental note: learn to take better pictures!)
